Week 1 Recap-Thursday Games: The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly

Week 1 saw some impressive performances, and some not so impressive in games played Thursday, August 29.
The Good
Utah RB Zac Moss ran for 181 yards on 29 carries and 1 TD, averaging 6.2 yards per carry in a 30-12 win over BYU in the “Holy War”. It was the Utes 9th straight win over the Cougars.
RB Travis Etienne rushed for 205 yards on 12 carries and scored 3 TD’s, including a 90 yard run for a score as Clemson rolled over Ga. Tech 52-14 in the ACC Conference opener for both teams.
Texas A&M QB Kellen Mond accounted for 4 TD’s (3 passing, 1 rushing) in a 41-7 rout of Texas State.
The Bad
The Cincinnati defense was pressuring UCLA QB Brian Dorian-Robinson all night, coming away 2 INT’s, and allowed only 62 yards rushing on 36 attempts for a 1.7 ypc in the Bearcats 24-14 win over the Bruins. Dorian-Robinson completed only 8 passes in 26 attempts. It was the second consecutive loss for a PAC-12 team to a Group of 5 team.
The Ugly
The Texas State Bobcats threw 4 INT’s, allowed 3 sacks, and suffered 9 tackles for loss in their 41-7 loss at Texas A&M.
