Houston Baptist Signs 21 in 2021 Recruiting Class

Houston Baptist signs 21 recruits for the 2021 recruiting class on Wednesday as part of National Signing Day. Among these are three transfers, with one coming from the FBS level. Over half are from the State of Texas.

From this list, there are five that stand out:

Rodney Dansby-LB, 6-0, 225, Houston, TX/Bellaire

  • 3-year starter
  • Named to the Houston Chronicle Top 100 Houston Area Recruits
  • 60 solo tackles in seven games.

Charles King-WR, 6-0, 200, Houston, TX/North Shore

  • 3-year starter
  • Ranked #63-Houston Chronicle Top 100 Houston Area Recruits
  • #5 WR in Texas
  • 30 catches, 653 yards as a senior.
  • Helped lead the Mustangs to back-to-back state titles.

Orion Olivas-QB, 6-2, 206, El, Paso, TX/Eastlake

  • 2-year starter
  • 5429 passing yards
  • 54 TDs
  • 662 yards rushing
  • 7 TDS
  • 1365 yards passing, 17 TDs in five games as a senior.

Rufus Toe-DE, 6-2, 195, San Antonio, TX/Holmes

  • 2-year starter
  • 97 tackles
  • 11 sacks
  • 2 TFLs
  • Forced 8 fumbles
  • Recovered 2 fumbles

Isaiah Williams-S, 6-0, 180, Los Angeles, CA/Culver City

  • 2-year starter
  • 259 career total tackles
  • 23 TFLs, 10 sacks
  • 7 fumble recoveries
  • 3 forced fumbles
  • 155 tackles as a senior, with 16 TFLs, 7 sacks, 4 fumble recoveries
  • Career-high 18 tackles in a game.

Houston Baptist in 2020

The Huskies played only 4 games in 2020, going 1-3. Their lone victory came against E. Kentucky in a 33-30 win. But the Huskies ranked second in the FCS in scoring offense at 33 points per game and averaged 547 yards per game in total offense.  They converted on 3rd down 51% of the time, and 60% on 4th down.
