The Friars are coming off a 42-7 loss to Midland Christian. They managed just 9 first downs and racked up 90 yards in penalties in that game. Bishop Lynch is a running team, averaging 170 yards per game.

That ground game is led by RB Isaiah Schmidtke. He ranks 2nd in TAPPS Division 1 in rushing, as he has rushed for 1239 yards and 12 touchdowns (in nine games) and averages 8.5 yards per rush.

Schmidtke has posted four games with over 100-yards rushing, and two games over 200 yards rushing.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Friars have racked up 637 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, 17 sacks, and 11 INTs. That unit is led by:

    • Webster Walls: 73 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 6 sacks.
    • Joseph Lucas: 3 INTs, 2 sacks, 48 tackles
    • Daniel Ring: 79 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 1 INT
    • Beau Renteria: 56 tackles, 4 TFLs, 1 sack

Last week in the loss to Midland Christian, the Friars were held to just nine first downs and didn’t help themselves by committing nine penalties for 90 yards.

The Concordia Lutheran Crusaders

The Crusaders are coming off a 45-0 loss to St. Thomas.

St. Thomas is also a team that relies heavily on the running game. The Crusaders have gained over 2000 yards rushing on the season, and they average 206 yards rushing per game.

They have two players who have rushed for over 500 yards each: Tate Elder (618 yards, 8 touchdowns) and Ayden Dominy (590 yards, three touchdowns).

On defense, Concordia Lutheran is led by:

    • Andrew Shrewbury: 84 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 INT
    • Ryan Escalante: 66 tackles, 4 TFLs, 2 INTs
    • Peyton Smith: 39 tackles, 5 TFLs, 2 sacks.

As a unit, the Crusaders have piled up 608 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, nine interceptions, but only five sacks.

For the Crusaders to make an impact, they must put more pressure on the quarterback and plug up the holes and keep Schmidtke contained.
