Two Top-ten teams lost and a third struggled to a 3-point win in week 2 in college football. Here are some of those disastrous performances from Saturday.

No. 5 Notre Dame’s luck runs out against Northern Illinois
The No. 5 Fighting Irish of Notre Dame hosted the unranked Huskies of Northern Illinois. Under the watchful, but tearful eye of Touchdown Jesus, Notre Dame did not play like a top-five team.

The Fighting Irish turned the ball over and could not penetrate the NIU offensive line. In addition, Notre Dame converted 3 of 10 on third down. The game-winning field goal attempt by the Irish was blocked and the Huskies walked off with a 16-14 upset win, the biggest in NIU program history.
No. 3 Texas blows Michigan’s big house down
Michigan’s 23-game home winning streak is over. The Texas Longhorns showed why they belong in the conversation as one of the top teams in college football. Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers fired three touchdown passes, and the Texas defense held the No. 10 Michigan Wolverines to just 82 yards on the ground. Also, Texas forced three turnovers in a 31-12 victory on the road at the Big House.
At his post-game press conference after the victory over Michigan, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said this about his team’s performance,
“First of all, super proud of our team. You know this is a tough place to come and win. Obviously they won 23 in a row here. This is obviously a quality opponent. For our player to come in and play with the poise and composure that they played with, but yet also the physicality and toughness we had to play with today. I thought they did a really nice job.”

No. 7 Oregon struggles against a good Boise State team
In years past, the Oregon Ducks were known for having top-notch offensive line play. Ducks quarterback Dillon Gabriel was sacked four times on Saturday.

Down 20-14 at halftime, the Ducks found a rhythm in the second half and escaped with a slim 37-34 win on a game-winning field goal conversion by Atticus Sappington. Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty rushed for 192 yards and 3 TDs for the Broncos. In addition, Jeanty leads the country in rushing with 229 yards per game.
No. 4 Alabama almost ruined Saban’s field dedication
On the night they dedicated the field at Bryant-Denny Stadium in the name of Nick Saban, the Alabama Crimson Tide struggled with South Florida for three quarters, and held a one-point lead going into the fourth quarter.
In that fourth quarter, Alabama scored 28 points and ran away with a 42-16 not-so-pretty victory. However, the Crimson Tide converted 38 percent on third downs and committed three turnovers. In addition, Alabama committed a whopping 13 penalties and for 120 yards. Welcome to college football life without Nick Saban.
No. 15 Oklahoma forgot where the endzone was
Against the unranked Houston Cougars, the Oklahoma Sooners could not move the ball and did not set any scoring records. The Sooners gained 252 total yards and held a 14-6 lead at halftime.
The Cougars held Oklahoma to less than 100 yards rushing and an average of a paltry 3 yards per carry. Oklahoma quarterback Jackson Arnold completed just 59 percent of his passes for 174 yards and was sacked three times.
