10 Group Of 5 Quarterbacks That Had Great College Careers

Over the last 20 years, the Group of 5 conferences have produced some quality quarterbacks and some have gone on to the NFL. Here are 10 quarterbacks that had great college careers in the Group of 5:
Case Keenum, (C-USA) University of Houston (2007-2011): 57 starts, 40-17 record, 19,217 yards, 155 TD’s and 46 INT’s. Keenum has played in the NFL for 5 different teams, including the Denver Broncos in 2018. He set numerous conference and NCAA records, including #1 in NCAA history in career touchdown passes.
Nick Mullens, (C-USA) Southern Mississippi (2013-2016): 44 starts, 20-24 record,11,994 yards, 87 TD’s and 46 INT’s. Started 13 games for the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2018, throwing for 2277 yards and 13 TD’s.
Ben Roethlisberger, (MAC) Miami (OH) (2001-2003): 38 starts, 27-11 record, 10,829 yards, 84 TD’s, 34 INT’s. A 1st round pick of the Steelers in 2004 NFL Draft, Roethlisberger has 2 Super Bowl victories. He will likely be a NFL Hall of Fame inductee once his playing days are over.
Austin Davis, (C-USA) Southern Mississippi (2008-2011): 45 starts, 30-15 record, 10,892 yards, 83 TD’s, 27 INT’s. Davis played for 3 different NFL teams.
Brett Rypien, (Mountain West) Boise State (2015-2018): 50 starts, 40-17 record, 13,578 yards, 90 TD’s, 29 INT’s. Rypien was the Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2018.
Kellen Moore, (Mountain West) Boise State (2008-2011): 53 starts, 50-3 record, 14,667 yards, 142 TD’s and 28 INT’s. He ranks #2 in NCAA history in career touchdowns, behind only Case Keenum.
Brent Stockstill, (C-USA) Middle Tennessee State (2014-2018): 45 starts, 26-18 record, 12,483 yards, 106 TD’s, 35 INT’s. Led C-USA in touchdown passes in 2018 with 29.
Quinton Flowers, (American Athletic) South Florida (2014-2017): 43 starts, 30-13 record, 8124 yards, 71 TD’s, 23 INT’s. Flowers is the career leader in the American Athletic Conference in rushing touchdowns with 41.
Brandon Doughty, (Sunbelt/C-USA) Western Kentucky (2011-2015): 43 games played, 28-13 record, 12,855 yards, 111 TD’s, 34 INT’s. Is the C-USA career leader in completion percentage at 69.9 and passing efficiency rating at 171.7.
Shane Carden, (C-USA/American Athletic) East Carolina (2012-2014): 39 starts, 26-13 record, 11,991 yards, 86 TD’s, 30 INT’s. Carden is 3rd all-time in C-USA in completion percentage at 68.6.
As you can see, the list above were all good college quarterbacks from the Group of 5 conferences, throwing for a ton of yards, a lot of touchdowns, and setting records.
